Student Insider Tip: Embrace the independent spirit! Ditch the chain stores and explore The Lanes for unique shops, cafes, and a true taste of Norwich’s character.

“Norwich truly is a ‘fine city’ – it’s got this incredible blend of really old, beautiful architecture and a super modern, indie vibe. You can spend an afternoon exploring the medieval Lanes, discovering unique shops and hidden cafes, and then head to a cutting-edge gig or exhibition in the evening. It’s small enough to feel incredibly safe and friendly, but there’s always something new to explore. The UEA campus feels like its own little world, but the city centre is so accessible and welcoming. It’s the perfect balance for student life, never boring but never overwhelmingly huge.” (Second year student, University of East Anglia)
